Biography

Dr. Nagengast earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Southern California and his medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. During medical school, he pursued research interests as a Paul Farmer Global Surgery Research Associate in the Program in Global Surgery and Social Change at Harvard Medical School under the guidance of John Meara, MD, DMD, MBA. He also worked as a member of the core research team for the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery. This is a huge honor, and he was drawn to the remarkable integrated global health program Dr. William Magee has cultivated here at USC where he continues to pursue research in global surgery.

In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities, including skiing, fishing, surfing and working on his parent's farm.
