Dr. Lanier attended Rhodes College and earned dual degrees - a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. Dr. Lanier earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee.He developed a keen interest in both surgical oncology and reconstructive surgery and was one of a select few general surgery residents in the nation admitted into the surgical oncology fellowship at the National Cancer Institute under the guidance of Surgery Branch Chief Steven Rosenberg, M.D., Ph.D. in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Lanier then completed a residency in general surgery at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
Upon completing a second residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Southern California, he plans to pursue academic oncoplastic surgery specializing in advanced multimodality tumor extirpation and reconstruction.
